De atunci,caile grotesti,afectiunea lor urzita si live-urile nebune i-au pus in top.
In 1999,faima lor le-a atras atentia celor de la CEO of East West Japan,astfel inscriindu-i la o cunoscuta casa de discuri.Au debutat cu 3 piese simultan,foarte neobisnuit pentru niste incepatori.
Bineinteles,toate 3 piesele au ajuns in top 10.Dupa asta,toate piesele lor au ajuns in top 10 dovedind ca din ce in ce mai multi oameni erau interesati de muzica si versurile lor.
In 2002,faima lor a lovit toata Asia.In timpul turneului prin Asia au calatorit in Korea,Taivan,Hong Kong si Shanghai.In Shanghai,politistii de proximitate au trebiut chemati pt a calma publicul in extaz.
Acum,Dir en grey si-a schimbat tinta,din Japonia in lumea larga.

At the age of 17, Kyo joined his first band, Gesshoku. In this band he went by the nickname Yoma. He went by the nickname Hotoma when he joined his next band, Visnu.Then he joined Masquerade. It was when he joined Haijin Kurobara Zoku that he met up with drummer, Shinya, and bassist, Kisaki. It was here that he changed his nickname to Kyo and that one has stuck for the duration of his music career which is still going strong. The three left Haijin Kurbara Zoku and formed their own band called La:Sadies. They were soon joined by Rythmn Guitarist, Die, and Lead Guitarist, Kaoru. They wanted bigger and better things, but Kisaki did not want anything to do with it. He preferred the indies scene, so he left and Toshiya was kidnapped to be their bassist and together the four of them formed the group we all know and love, Dir en Grey.
